I always like the Proclaimers If I could walk 500 miles, but now that song has a little more meaning for me. :)
Bike check one, two.
And after Saturday’s crash, my bike is ok! Handlebars were a little out of alignment, but other than that it checked out ok. Whew.
My left side is still pretty sore; doesn’t help that I carry all my stress in my left shoulder, but what ya gonna do I guess. Went for a swim today and that seemed to help, although pulling with my left arm was painful. Hopefully the kinks will get...
And the final score - Car: 1, Me/Bike: 0.
Had my first major biking accident today. I hit a car on my bike. Totally my fault…I wasn’t paying attention and was looking to the right for the van that was going to turn left on the street I was crossing and completely didn’t see the car on my left that was coming at me until I heard their tires squeal and felt the thud of me on the hood.
Thankfully I appear the only...

Race rehearsal ride #1 - check!
Today was my first trip on the full course for IM CDA - both loops! First loop took a little longer than I anticipated…two wrong turns (back to back - but didn’t lose too much time), thought I got lost on the roads-to-the-cabins in Hayden (which, might I add, has a mile section that is a gravel road and goes downhill! WTF City of Hayden?! I hope you finish your repaving project...
Y-E-S!!!!
Guess who just completed a two-mile swim in the pool??!!
Yippy skippy!!
And I really think I could have gone the full 2.4 with no problem…expect I needed to pee really bad and I think it is just a bad idea to pee in the pool where you work.
* This is a HUGE mile-stone for this non-swimmer, in case you were wondering. :)
hi if we had an airport in harrington, i would fly to pullman this afternoon...

It’s been a rough last few weeks…work has basically imploded on itself, but I couldn’t be more glad that tomorrow is the last official day of the semester - next week is finals week, then summer starts May 10! Granted, I don’t get the summer off…but at least this garbage we’ve been dealing with will be (basically) over for three months.
The hardest part...

82 days, 11 hours....
Race prep training for Ironman Coeur d’Alene started today…12 weeks until the event. I am definitely starting to become obsessed in my mind about race day. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing…
A little overwhelmed about the training plan to start…we build straight through with no days off until after a race rehersal on April 24. I’ll definitely be...
RIP James.
My boss’s brother-in-law died in Afganistan last week. The flags in Washington are at half-mast for him today.
Governor Christine Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Monday, April 5, 2010, in memory of U. S. Army Private First Class James L. Miller, who died March 29, 2010, in Afghanistan, of injuries he sustained when an...

Pro triathlete injured in hit-and-run accident →
Jordan Rapp (winner of last year’s Ironman Canada and Ironman Arizona races) was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday while he was riding his bike.
I hope they find the guy that hit him and they throw the book at this guy. Boo!
PS - Please be careful on the roads!!!
99 days left until race day, 99 days left to go... →
Got a little nervous yesterday when I realized it was the magic countdown day of 100 left until Ironman CDA. Now that it is jumped into double-digits, it really feels like go time.
Trying not to freak out about it…”you’ll be ready, trust the training plan, etc.” are the thoughts that go through my head daily…but I am still nervous about it.
Dinner Impossible at Ironman Arizona tonight on... →
I’ve never watched this show, but I am excited to tonight. JD Standish is one of the Ironman staff that is helping Chef Robert Irvine - JD is one of my most favorite people to work with at IMCDA and ultimately, is the reason we are able to successfully manage transition for 2,000+ athletes.

140.6 Reasons to do an Ironman
001. Makes everything else seem so SHORT. 002. The 3 week taper before the race. 003. The 4 week recovery after the race. 004. I’ve done one, so now I have to do it faster the next time. 005. As much Pizza as you can eat. 006. So that when the car runs out of gas, I can still get away from the Police under my own power. 007. Beats watching the Biggest Looser, a movie, or anything else on TV....
