I always like the Proclaimers If I could walk 500 miles, but now that song has a little more meaning for me. :)
I crossed the finish line at Ironman Coeur d’Alene with one of my teammates last night. It was a very LONG day. Three minor blisters on my feet, a pretty severe sunburn (blistering - ouch!) on my thighs, some ridiculous tan/burn lines on my forearms from the bike and I walked like an old man all day today. But I do have to say, that seven block run down Sherman Avenue to the finish made it all worth it.
I am SO PROUD of you - you are going to ROCK the Seattle RnR Half-Marathon this weekend!!!
Yes, I know my computer design skills make it look like a five-year-old wrote this. I am ok with not having that skill…I’ll leave graphic design to the experts.
And after Saturday’s crash, my bike is ok! Handlebars were a little out of alignment, but other than that it checked out ok. Whew.
My left side is still pretty sore; doesn’t help that I carry all my stress in my left shoulder, but what ya gonna do I guess. Went for a swim today and that seemed to help, although pulling with my left arm was painful. Hopefully the kinks will get sorted out in the next six days.
Had my first major biking accident today. I hit a car on my bike. Totally my fault…I wasn’t paying attention and was looking to the right for the van that was going to turn left on the street I was crossing and completely didn’t see the car on my left that was coming at me until I heard their tires squeal and felt the thud of me on the hood.
Thankfully I appear the only injured party. My bike, from what I can tell, made it out with no problems, but the bike shop here will have to tell me the final word Monday. The car and its passengers were fine too, thankfully.
Me, I think I will be ok…a little road rash and some deep bruising. Starting to get sore, but it could have been a lot worse. Mostly I am trying to calm down…can’t stop shaking and am still pretty freaked out.
Stupid really. Moral of the story…pay attention to your surroundings!
